QUALIFICATIONS OF JOSEPH NACMIAS, CPA
Joseph Nacmias is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in three states, and a partner in the New York City office of McGladrey & Pullen, LLP, the fifth largest US firm of Certified Public Accountants. He has more than 25 years of experience in public accounting, most of it with firms which specialize in serving an international clientele, particularly foreigners with businesses or investments in the US. He has lived in France, and is fluent in French, English and Italian.
The New York office international group services many foreign clients, particularly US subsidiaries of European companies. Several partners and staff are fluent in various foreign languages, including Chinese, French, Greek, Italian, Spanish, Thai and Tagalog.
Mr. Nacmias has worked on and supervised assignments including the following:
- Auditing of private and public companies, foundations and non-profit organizations.
- Accounting for private companies, partnerships, trusts, estates and individuals, foundations, and non-profit organizations.
- Tax preparation for corporations, partnerships, trusts, estates and individuals.
- Valuations of private companies.
- Consulting in connection with acquisitions of businesses including audits of target companies, structuring of transactions, negotiation of agreements, etc.
- Consulting as an expert witness on the value of businesses.
The projects that Mr. Nacmias has handled have involved him with many different industries including wholesale, retail, manufacturing, publishing, trading, brokerage, shipping, real estate, entertainment and various service industries.
Mr. Nacmias has lectured on various professional topics and has spoken at various seminars sponsored by the French American Chamber of Commerce, a major Parisian business school, a Lyon attorney's society and a variety of professional and community forums. He has written on various subjects for the CPA Journal (the official magazine of the New York State Society of CPA's). He served on the International Operations Committee, the International Tax Committee and the Consulting Practice Committee of the New York State Society of CPA's. He also served on the Report Review Committee of the New Jersey Society of CPA's. He is a past president of the Baruch College Alumni Association and serves on the board of Brooklyn Information and Culture, Inc.
